The Avant-Garden is a Graduate Student Group committed to enhancing the campus experience through landscape beautification, communal placemaking, and collaborative learning. Right now, we’re taking neglected planter boxes on campus and designing their planting and growing conditions to support beautiful, low-maintenance, pollinator-friendly landscaping. In the future, we hope to expand these operations, support independent research projects, and facilitate outreach and educational events. We imagine a campus where every member actively shapes their spaces for connection, sustainability, vibrance, well-being, and a shared sense of pride. Avant-Garden is not just a group, it's a movement toward a campus community that collaboratively imagines and shapes its future.
If you'd like to be a part of helping us grow, we currently have many volunteer opportunities.
