Pathways to a Master of Social Work
Our dynamic course-based Master of Social Work program is designed to support social workers with advanced skills and a wide range of specialties. There are three ways to enter this exciting new program.
With a Bachelor of Social Work.
If you have a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) you can choose to study full or part-time.
- Complete a full-time, course-based degree in just 12 months.
- If you have a Bachelor of Social Work degree, you can complete this course-based degree in two years.
- This option has the same requirements, but allows you to balance work/life, cost over a longer time-frame. Find out more

With a degree in another discipline.
If you have a degree from another faculty, you can still apply for to the MSW program, however you'll you'll need to complete a "foundation" year of social work education first.
- Complete a full-time, intensive course-based degree in 24 months, including a foundation year.
- Balance your life, work and budget with this part-time MSW, which you would complete this course-based degree in two years. This option has the same requirements, but allows you to balance work/life, cost over a longer time-frame.

Graduate Certificates
Our graduate certificates provide stand-alone, graduate credentials for social workers with a Bachelor of Social Work. These certificates support your practice with education in areas most requested by social workers. You can apply to the MSW program after completing one graduate certificate.

People are sometimes surprised when I tell them I have a social work degree, but social work and law is a powerful combination. My social work training provides me with a better understanding of complex social issues, which I apply in my work every day in the justice system.
