Face coverings for students with Expanded or Critical Research Designation
UCalgary is providing a one-time distribution of two reusable face coverings for staff, faculty and graduate students who are working on campus now or will be returning by September and have been identified in Lab/Worksite Safety Plans. Reusable face coverings are not currently available for staff and faculty who are not working on campus. Eligible students should have received an email on Sept. 2 with instructions for picking up masks. For more information or if you did not receive an email, please contact your department.
Reminder: Library gradually expands services Libraries and Cultural Resources announced several enhancements to library services as we gear up for the fall term:
Contactless pickup is available in the foyer of the Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) for the parts of the collection not already available online.
Space reconfiguration has taken place in the TFDL to conform with physical distancing requirements. Twenty-nine computer workstations and 45 individual study spaces on the first floor are now available for booking online.
Online support is continuing. Since classes moved online in March, librarians have assisted 5,500 people through online chat — three times the normal volume — and 1,150 by email.
Field of Studies (FoS) students will continue to have priority access to library resources. Temporary accommodations, which have now been extended to December 31, 2020, can be found here. The accommodations are especially relevant if a student requires materials that do not belong to the University of Calgary’s collections.
How will COVID-19 impact fall 2020 classes? Students likely have many questions following the announcement that instruction in the fall term will be provided through a combination of face-to-face and online learning. What technology do I need to have access to? Are services still available on campus like writing support, career advice, etc.? If all my classes are fully online, do I need to be in Calgary for the fall term? Will residence be open for the fall 2020 term? Visit the following FAQ pages for answers to questions you may have:
Please submit any questions or feedback to [email protected]. Your questions and suggestions will help guide our planning and communications as we transition through the Summer and Fall.
