This message contains important information about research operations.

Please refer to the University of Calgary’s Emergency Management website for up-to-date information about the university’s COVID-19 Response, and refer to research.ucalgary.ca/covid-19 for research-specific guidance.

There are now several resources in place for researchers and research staff who are:

  • doing research projects related to COVID-19,
  • refocusing their work to support front-line efforts (i.e. rapid manufacturing of PPE, supporting diagnostics), and
  • involved in clinical work in the Calgary Zone.

These resources aim to enable our scholars to communicate, collaborate, and potentially coordinate their research efforts — reducing duplicated efforts and helping to enable new studies.

Collaboration resources

Visit the COVID-19 Research Collaboration page to:

Join the UCalgary COVID Collab Slack Workspace

  • Connect with your colleagues across campus to learn about research-related response activities and identify ways to work together.
  • Sign up to moderate a channel in the UCalgary Slack Workspace. Help to connect people across topics, and identify gaps where additional support could be beneficial.

Join the federal CanCOVID Slack Workspace

  • CanCOVID is an expert community of Canadian COVID-19 researchers, clinical collaborators, and healthcare stakeholders from across the country. Canada’s Chief Science Officer mandated the creation of CanCOVID to optimize Canada’s research response to the COVID-19 public health crisis. Sign up to join the federally-mandated CanCOVID research community.

Add your COVID-related project to the website

  • If you have a project or research-related initiative that should be listed on the website, please submit your information to [email protected].

Connect with external partners

  • If you wish to reach out to federal or provincial partners for the first time, we ask that you consider first connecting with one of the identified UCalgary individuals to ensure that we avoid duplication of efforts and protect everybody's time as we navigate the current situation.

Find funding opportunities

  • COVID-specific funding opportunities will be listed as we become aware of them. Please check regularly, as many competitions have extremely short deadlines.

Opt in to receive COVID-related research messages

  • In an effort to provide relevant information to those who want it, you are invited to opt-in to the COVID Collaboration mailing list. Most research emails go to the Academic Staff list; however we recognize that there are many trainees and staff members involved in COVID-related research who may wish to receive updates.
