During the COVID-19 pandemic, important updates from the University of Calgary will be shared with the campus community when warranted. They provide a summary of any changes to operations or significant events that affect our university community. As part of ongoing efforts to support student mental health and wellness, the university is giving students the option, for any one course completed in the winter 2021 term, to either accept their final grade or opt for a CR (completed requirements). The course can be a 3-unit, 1.5-unit, 1-unit or .75-unit course. For the Faculty of Law, a single course will be defined by the Faculty. The CR is available as follows:
- Undergraduate students can request a CR for one winter 2021 course for which they receive a final grade of C- or higher.
- Graduate students can request a CR for one winter 2021 course for which they receive a final grade of B- or higher.
Additional details on requesting the CR and timelines can be found here. Moving forward, the University of Calgary will establish a permanent policy for how flexible grading can be applied in a student’s overall program. Domestic Travel Discouraged A reminder that currently all travel brings additional risks. To ensure the safety and security of our campus community during Covid-19, all University of Calgary business-related travel within and outside of Alberta is not recommended at this time. This is in addition to the current restrictions on international travel. If you make a decision to travel domestically on UCalgary business during Covid-19, please discuss your plans with your department head, manager, director, dean or other SLT member. Additional COVID related costs such as flight cancellations, testing or quarantine expenses would not be reimbursed by the university. We also recommend that you review the UCalgary Safe Travelling Guidance for Covid-19 Domestic Travel. Workspace safety plans The University of Calgary continues to require all faculty and staff to work from home unless campus access is required for:
- use tools and equipment
- work involves secure data and confidential information; or
- on-site preparation and attendance are required to deliver services to faculty, students, staff and the public.
All UCalgary individuals who are working on campus must be included in a Workspace Safety Plan. Supervisors and managers are encouraged to visit their Workspace Safety Plan to ensure all of their staff who are working on campus have acknowledged that they understand and will follow the Plan. For information on completing, changing or adding staff to a Workspace Safety Plan please review the Lab/Office Workspace Safety Plan FAQ’s. Protect yourself and others Masks continue to be a mandatory requirement in all buildings within Alberta. These face coverings must be worn with fabric over the mouth and nose to ensure better protection for yourself and for those around you. Please, keep safe and make sure your mask is on correctly.
