Dear colleagues,

On March 21, 2020, we asked researchers to submit their work to receive Critical Research Designation in order to continue research on campus and in the field/community during UCalgary’s COVID-19 response. Largely in part due to your responsiveness to this call, we have been able to continue critical research activities in a safe and controlled manner.

In the last month, more than 200 teams have received approval to continue their work with a Critical Research Designation. However, as we continue to evaluate and prepare for various scenarios, we need to keep our records up to date. In order to continue to allow access during this time, we must ensure that the only those who require it are on the Critical Research list.

If you received approval, but have now concluded the specified work and are no longer working on campus, please notify us at [email protected].

Note that this does not prevent you from submitting again in the future should your work require you to be on campus or collecting data in the field or in the community. Our new webform makes it simpler to submit new or revised Critical Research Designation forms.

Thank you,
Office of the Vice-President (Research)
