Students, trainees, faculty and staff,

As you have likely heard, yesterday the Government of Alberta announced a state of public health emergency in Alberta. This decision did not include any additional regulations on research and learning activities at the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM) at this time. We will provide additional information if any changes that affect working and learning on campus are made. Read more about yesterday’s announcement.

  • I invite you to read at the newest edition of UCalgary Medicine Magazine. Like much else these days, it’s gone virtual. I hope you enjoy reading about some of the many ways our medical school is adapting to our changing world. Read more.
  • I’d also like to congratulate Dr. Christian Farrier, MD’20, who has been named the newest Rhodes Scholar from the CSM. A remarkable achievement from a very talented young doctor within the Department of Paediatrics. Good luck at Oxford from all of us at the CSM and we look forward to all you accomplish in your future endeavours.

Please complete this survey that asks questions about your current and foreseeable needs for child care and what factors may be important in choosing that care. Survey closes Dec. 6.
  • UCalgary’s UCeed, a pre-seed and seed funding program, continues to accept applications from qualifying ventures in child and general health. Apply through the UCeed website by Nov. 27 to have your application considered this quarter. Read more.

CSM United Way campaign

  • Time is running out to participate in the 2020 UCalgary United Way campaign. The CSM is proudly participating in the 20 for 2020 initiative this year. Participants from the CSM will be eligible to win one of five gift baskets or other prizes donated by the CSM’s Executive Committee. Winners of the random draw will be announced in January.
