GUIDANCE FOR RESEARCHERS

Dear UCalgary Researchers,

Many of you in our campus community are engaged in research work as faculty, postdocs, students, or staff. At present, the university remains open, and it is expected that many research activities will continue, particularly if they are critical to the maintenance of research programs and your core infrastructure.

On the Research website, we outline some key considerations for all researchers, followed by more specific recommendations for researchers in different settings (i.e. wet labs, dry labs, clinical areas, or the community).

We know that determination of urgency vs. non-urgency of your potential research activities may not be straightforward. Furthermore, we recognize that you may have concerns relating to funding agency timelines. The teams in the VPR Office and Research Services are available to assist you in considering the time-sensitivity of your planned research activities. We will be in regular contact with the tri-agency and other funders, and we will provide updates when we have more information about potential deadline changes.

Please monitor the Research website (research.ucalgary.ca/covid-19) for information relevant to preparing for COVID-19 disruptions of the research enterprise.

Questions or inquiries should be directed to [email protected].

At all times, please remember that we are motivated to ensure human safety, animal safety, and equipment safety. Please stay organized, plan ahead, and stay safe.

Best wishes to all of you in a difficult time.
