Dear colleagues,

As part of our efforts to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, the University of Calgary has made the decision to delay appointment start dates for new international postdoctoral scholar hires arriving from outside of Canada.

Effective immediately, all future requests to the Postdoctoral Office for offer letters to new international postdocs will be required to have an appointment start date of July 1, 2020 or later.

We are taking these measures out of an abundance of caution. The health and safety of our researchers, staff and students are our top priority.

Current University of Calgary postdoctoral scholars who return to Calgary must follow Alberta Health Services guidelines for returning travellers with respect to illness reporting, self-quarantine and testing. Information is available on the university’s COVID-19 Response webpage.

Please note that the Government of Canada has placed restrictions on foreign nationals entering Canada. While we hope that these restrictions will be resolved soon, we cannot guarantee an end date. For more information, see the Government of Canada website.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions, please contact the Postdoctoral Office at [email protected].
