We wish you well as you prepare to begin your winter term at UCalgary! This email contains important information for international students travelling to Canada this term. If you are not planning to come to Canada, you do not need to take any action at this time.
1. Pre-departure COVID-19 testing and negative results required when flying to Canada Effective January 7, you will need to present documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result to the airline prior to boarding a flight to Canada. This must be a PCR (COVID-19 molecular polymerase chain reaction) test taken within 72 hours prior to your departure. Note that, even with this negative test result, you will still need to quarantine for 14 days once you arrive in Canada. You should familiarize yourself with the details of this new requirement by visiting the Government of Canada website:
Please contact your airline if you have questions about this or other requirements for boarding.
2. Notifying UCalgary of your arrival and quarantine plans The Government of Canada requires international travellers to complete a quarantine period upon arrival. The government also requires that the University of Calgary collect details of quarantine arrangements for students arriving from international locations. If you are planning to come to Canada, you must follow the university’s quarantine guidelines for students. This includes notifying the university of your plans by completing this online form prior to your arrival:
Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you have questions about this email or the quarantine process, you can contact UCalgary's Student Health Inquiry Team at [email protected]. — Office of the Vice-Provost (Student Experience) Student and Enrolment Services |
