Dear colleagues, As you know, today the province announced the next stage of Calgary’s relaunch strategy, which includes resuming many activities in our city on Monday, May 25. While I understand that this move by the province heightens the eagerness for a return to regular research, scholarship, and creative activities, it is important that we continue to practice patience and caution. Tremendous work is being done behind the scenes to prepare for a phased return to campus. Currently:
- We ask our campus community to continue working from home
- Buildings are secured and require key card access
- Only those with Critical Research Designation may continue to operate on campus
- Applications for Expanded Research Designation are open, but approvals will not be issued until the university has determined it is safe to do so.
- Submitting your application for Expanded Research Designation will support our planning for a phased return, and will facilitate a quicker return to campus for your team once it is safe to do so.
Next:
- For those who have applied or plan to apply for Expanded Research Designation, you must wait to receive notification of approval from the VPR office before you return to campus. We expect approvals will be issued no sooner than June 1.
- Detailed guidelines for workplace/lab safety, including physical distancing and cleaning requirements, will be shared prior to returning to campus
I want to express my gratitude for your cooperation, patience, and perseverance through this challenging situation. Although we are beginning to see loosened restrictions, we must continue to be vigilant. Stay organized, plan ahead, and stay safe.
