Trauma-Informed Protective Strategies Workshop Trauma-Informed Protective Strategies (TIPS) are available to register on MyLearningLink. Facilitated by AHS Certified Community and Workplace Traumatologists, these sessions focus on trauma-informed leadership practices, trauma-aware principles, and trauma-protective strategies to create and foster a healthy workplace culture. This course offering is available to anyone interested. The next TIPS workshop will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. |

Physician Wellness Workshop: Your Life in Retirement
Wednesday, August 28, 2024 | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Location: Virtual The AMA is pleased to host Dr. Philippe Erhard to facilitate the Your Life in Retirement Workshop. Dr. Erhard has previously offered this well-received workshop to AMA members in December 2023, and to Doctors Manitoba members three times. Retirement is an important life stage for physicians. This workshop will cover how to develop a meaningful and rewarding life after medicine, as an essential part of retirement. Dr. Glenda MacQueen Emerging Leader Award Nominations This award is named in honour of Dr. Glenda MacQueen for her outstanding contributions to and leadership in the Cumming School of Medicine. Leadership, mentorship, empowering and recognizing female leaders were at the core of her passion for academic medicine. The award will be given annually and recognize a female faculty member who has made an outstanding contribution to the leadership of individuals within the CSM. A prize of $1500 will be awarded to be used toward leadership training. The recipient will be a faculty member of the Cumming School of Medicine who demonstrates leadership within the CSM academic community. The ideal candidate will be a female faculty member who is a leader in their field; who has demonstrated a willingness to go out of their way to mentor students, fellows, junior faculty, and other staff, formally and informally; who demonstrates a dedication to uplifting others; and who acts with humility and integrity. Deadline to submit nominations is Friday, September 13, 2024. |

47th American Academy of Pediatrics District 8 Conference in Banff The 47th American Academy of Pediatrics District 8 Section on Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Conference, was held in the town of Banff from June 20 to 23, 2024. The conference saw a remarkable turnout, with a total of 280 participants, including neonatologists, pediatricians, NNPs, RNs, RTs, dieticians, and family members from across Alberta, British Columbia, Alaska, Hawaii, New Mexico, Washington State, Illinois, Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada, Idaho, Colorado, Oregon, Arizona, Uniformed Services West, and Utah.

Nutritional Services, Alberta Health Services, the Section of Newborn Critical Care at the Universities of Calgary, British Columbia, and Alberta, the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Conference Highlights:
- Opening Ceremony: Council meetings commenced with a Calgary Stampede white hat presentation by Dr. Abhay Lodha.
- Fellows Workshop: Led by Sarah Bernstein, with an update from Dr. Clara Song, AAP SONPM President.
- Jerry King Lectureship Award: Professor Haresh Kirpalani received this prestigious award for his lecture on non-invasive respiratory support.

Additional Workshops: The "Social Media Safety for Healthcare Professionals" session drew significant interest. Cultural Evening: Participants enjoyed Indian classical and Bollywood dance performances, henna tattooing, and an AI photo booth. A special dinner for nurse practitioners fostered networking and camaraderie. Final Day: The "Nourishing the Neonates" session, broadcast via Zoom across Canada, featured renowned speakers and was highly acclaimed. The conference was lauded for its rich scientific content, the breathtaking beauty of Banff, enjoyable social events, and excellent accommodations and transportation. |

This symposium provides a great opportunity for young researchers to share the amazing summer research projects they have been working on! The ACHRITA (Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute Trainee Association) organizing committee is seeking graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and clinical fellows to review abstracts and serve as judges. Judges evaluate student presentations during dedicated sessions:
- 9:20 – 10:50 AM – Oral Presentations
- 12:05 – 2:15 PM – Poster Presentations
- 2:15 – 3:45 PM – Elevator Pitch Presentations
