Decolonizing Health Care Congress

The Indigenous Primary Health Care and Policy Research Network in partnership with the Cumming School of Medicine’s Indigenous Health Program invites you to the Decolonizing Health Care Congress. For this first annual event, we will explore decolonizing themes arising from Dr. Adam Murry’s ‘Readiness to Practice’ research within the IPHCPR.
Speaker: Dr. Adam Murry (Ukrainian, Irish, Apache) earned a PhD in industrial-organizational psychology from Portland State University and currently works as an associate professor of psychology at the University of Calgary and as lead evaluator for the Indigenous Primary Health Care and Policy Research (IPHCPR) network of Alberta.

Alberta Sexual Assault Course and Conference
Wednesday, June 8, 2024 | 8:30 AM – 4:35 PM
Location: Virtual (via Zoom)
The Alberta Sexual Assault Course and Conference is designed to share core training and provide management updates for urban and rural healthcare professionals caring for patients who have experienced sexual violence. The course endeavours to provide broad training with sessions that are tailored to both medical and non-medical professionals. Examples of course topics include completing sexual assault examination kits, communication tools for connection after trauma, sexual violence in digital spaces, and understanding investigative processes.

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Social Justice Trainee Award Recipients
Sarah Hustad PGY-5 and Saad Al Mashan PGY-5 from Developmental Pediatrics have recently won the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Social Justice Trainee Award.
This award recognizes an insightful and engaging article written by a medical student, resident, or sub-specialty resident on the intersectionality between neurodevelopment and bias, discrimination, racism, and social inequity.

PGME 2024 Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching The 2024 Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching is an annual award that recognizes outstanding resident teaching in all clinical disciplines at the Cumming School of Medicine. Recipients are identified using anonymous resident feedback submitted using the PGME Teaching Assessment Form from the prior calendar year. |

Nominate a Senior General Pediatrics Resident for the Dr. George Prieur Scholarship
The Prieur Family established this award in 1992. Dr. George Prieur was a Pediatrician who practiced in Calgary prior to the Second World War. It is believed that he was the second pediatrician to establish a practice in the city. When Dr. Prieur was nearing the end of his life in 1992, his family donated funds to support a scholarship in his memory.

Join Dr. Zulfiqar Bhutta, MBBS, PhD, 2023 Friesen International Prize in Health Research recipient for his lecture: Climate Change and Women and Children’s Health Globally: Challenges & Opportunities.
Dr. Bhutta is a Professor and Founding Director of the Institute for Global Health and Development and the Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health, at the Aga Khan University. He also holds the Robert Harding Inaugural Chair in Global Child Health at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, and is the Co-Director of the SickKids Centre for Global Child Health.
