As we come to the end of 2022, we'd like to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible work and dedication of our graduate students. You are an essential part of the research that helps make UCalgary a world-class institution, and your contributions to the life of our campus community cannot be overstated. Please do your best to unplug and unwind this holiday season, and we hope you have opportunities to spend quality time with your friends and loved ones. Let's meet back here in 2023 and make it a year to remember!

New: Video Science Communication
Dr. Jeff Dunn, with support from the Cumming School of Medicine Graduate Science Education, FGS and the Taylor Institute Badge program is offering a Video Communication badge, open to grad students and postdocs. Participants will develop skills to produce a short film. The program features professional guest speakers with extensive industry experience and offers the opportunity to be featured in a film festival and win prizes! Learn how to storyboard, use professional equipment and editing software, do sound design, and more. Learn more and register (space is limited)!

Start date: Jan. 11, 2023 (Wednesday) 3-5 pm
Runs every subsequent Wednesday for 6 weeks (until February 15) using Zoom and D2L.
Attendance and one video assignment will be credited towards the UCalgary Badge system. This badge microcredential can be added to your CV.

Please note that online payments made Dec. 23rd to Jan. 2nd won't be processed to student accounts until the first week in Jan. 2023.

CONTINUING RATES FOR FALL 2022
PhD students admitted Winter 2020 or earlier, who have a successful candidacy examination between Sept. 1, 2022 up to and including Dec. 31, 2022 are eligible to have their tuition fees reduced to a continuing rate in Winter term 2023.

Register today for a free, pre-internship D2L program in Winter 2023. This eight-week asynchronous program, developed in collaboration with Career Services, will introduce graduate students to the TTI program and help identify and prepare for internship opportunities. Registration for the Winter TTI Discovery is open until Jan. 2, with the program commencing Jan. 16.
