Urgent Locum Coverage Needed
Pinecone Pediatrics is an outpatient general pediatrics clinic in northwest Calgary. The clinic has a strong focus on mental health at all ages and these concerns represent over 50% of their active patient population.
One of their pediatricians has found herself unexpectedly on medical leave, and the clinic has an urgent need for the next 4 weeks to cover the patients that had been scheduled with her.
They are reaching out to see if anyone might have an interest in locuming at the clinic (pediatricians or subspecialty pediatricians who can practice independently). Any and all support would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact Dr. Martin Gauthier or the clinic directly at 587-885-2767. |

E.coli Outbreak Survey
The Alberta Children's Hospital has recently had to respond to an unprecedented E.coli outbreak among children in the Calgary zone. This E.coli outbreak has impacted our ACH emergency department, inpatients and ambulatory areas. As this surge of pediatric patients resolves, there is an opportunity to learn and apply lessons learned in preparation for future surge(s) of pediatric patients.
Although it would be our hope that we won't see future health surges in our pediatric population, a proactive approach encourages reflection and preparation. This is a 5-10 minute (anonymous) survey asking you to evaluate the ACH response to the recent E.coli outbreak and STEC ambulatory clinic. Click here to access the survey. The deadline is October 12, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact Shauna Langenberger CZ CQI by phone 403-955-2896. |

Accessing UCalgary Websites via VPN The University has restricted access to many of its websites that require login credentials to its internal network. This means that if you're not on the UCalgary network (i.e. researchers at ACH), you will now have to use a VPN to access Sharepoint websites (e.g. CSM legal, HR). Click here for a guide from CSM IT, outlining how to use the University VPN to access a Sharepoint website. |

Neuroethics and Neurodevelopment, 1st Edition - August 23, 2023 This volume focuses on topics at the intersection between neuroethics and neurodevelopment, and brings together the perspectives of experts in both clinical assessment and intervention, and researchers in child psychology, neurosciences, medicine, health policy, law, and social work. The goal is to review emerging issues related to the ethical ramifications of how variation in human neurodevelopment is described, and the effects of these descriptions on those with lived experience, clinical and intervention services, and health and social policy. Related topics are also explored including the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ethics of invasive neurotechnology interventions, biomarkers, machine learning, and precision medicine. |
