Science in the Cinema

Hosted by the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine, Science in the Cinema brings together science and popular culture in a fun and engaging way.

On Wednesday, October 16 Alberta Children's Research Hospital, will present Wonder. Following the movie, Drs. Adam McCrimmon and Kelly Dean Schwartz, registered psychologists, associate professors in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary and members of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute, will discuss what we have learned about bullying and children’s resilience, empathy, and strength.

About the film:
Wonder is the inspiring story of August Pullman who was born with facial differences that prevented him from going to a mainstream school until grade five. As his classmates and community learn about compassion and acceptance, Auggie's journey will prove you can't blend in when you were born to stand out.
