Beyond Aid vs. Trade: How Canada Can Align Development and Economic Partnerships in a Changing World

The School of Public Policy and Cuso International invites you to a Fireside Chat with Nicolas Moyer, CEO, Cuso International, at the University of Calgary Downtown Campus on Tuesday, May 5.

Canada is revisiting its global engagement priorities and rethinking how international development, diplomacy, and trade work together in a world with intensified global competition and evolving traditional aid models. This discussion, titled Beyond Aid vs. Trade: How Canada Can Align Development and Economic Partnerships in a Changing World, will explore how development cooperation can reduce poverty and instability while also helping Canadian firms build sustainable and responsible partnerships in emerging markets.

The School of Public Policy puts a priority on providing forums for critical conversations about public policy in Canada. This discussion will be led by Carlo Dade, Director of International Policy at the School of Public Policy.

Their discussion will provide insights on where development and trade objectives naturally reinforce each other, tied aid, practical lessons from NGO-private sector collaboration and Canada's competitive positioning compared to other middle powers.

The event will feature a Q&A session for guests and the opportunity to network with professionals, academics and students passionate about public policy.
