Science in the Cinema Presents: Silent Pandemic

Hosted by the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine (CSM), Science in the Cinema brings together science and popular culture in a fun and engaging way.

For the first time in modern medicine, we’re facing the reality that antibiotic resistance is outpacing the development of new treatments and some bacterial infections may no longer be treatable. This has implications for all areas of medicine, from surgery to cancer care.

Silent Pandemic investigates this “antibiotic gap,” highlighting how countries and researchers are working together to curb the rise of drug-resistant infections.

After the film, UCalgary experts will build on the discussion of this growing global health issue and how we’re working to find new ways to outpace antibiotic resistance.

Presented by the University of Calgary's Snyder Institute, hosted in partnership with the Calgary Public Library.
