To commemorate the legacy of Louis Riel, Métis Week in Alberta takes place on November 10-16 and celebrates the heritage, history and contributions that Métis people have made in Alberta and Canada. In honour of Métis Week, the University of Calgary’s Office of Indigenous Engagement annually hosts an event to share Métis culture, lived experience and ways of knowing.
You are invited to attend this year’s event featuring Dr. Allyson Stevenson from the Gabriel Dumont Institute, she will present her research: Métis Communities in the West: Policy and Place.
This event will be moderated by Gerald Ratt, and will welcome Métis Elder Doreen Bergum to provide an opening blessing.
