Join us in celebrating this year's Violet King Engaged Scholar Award recipients
Join us for the second annual Violet King Engaged Scholar Award ceremony, honouring outstanding Black, racialized, and Indigenous engaged student leaders who, in the spirit of Violet King, have made a significant impact on our campus and the wider community. This award, created by the Students' Union Quality Money, and the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, celebrates the legacy of Calgarian Violet King — Canada’s first Black woman lawyer and a remarkable trailblazer.
The awards will be presented by Chancellor Jon Cornish and Jo-Anne Henry, Violet King's only daughter. Following the awards ceremony, there will be a keynote address by Cheryl Foggo, an award-winning Calgary storyteller, playwright, filmmaker, and producer who is known for her work highlighting Black stories and contributions to Alberta and Canadian history.
