Innovation in Poverty Eradication: Global and Local Perspectives

The Trico Foundation Social Entrepreneurship Centre and Opportunity International Canada invite you to join us for an enlightening evening with Diana Montoya, a distinguished Nicaraguan leader in microfinance. Diana will share her invaluable experiences from the field shedding light on the transformative power of microfinance in Nicaragua.

Following her presentation, she will join a panel discussion on the role of microfinance in eradicating poverty. The panel will tackle the crucial synergy between global and local organizations, discussing avenues for collaborative impact. The discussion will also offer insight into how we can encourage the next generation of leaders to consider this impactful business model by including University of Calgary faculty and students in the panel discussion.

The panel discussion will feature:

  • Moderator: Colin Jackson, Senior Scholar, University of Calgary Graduate College and Advanced Leadership Fellow, Harvard Business School
  • Rosalynn Peschl, Assistant Professor (teaching) in Social Entrepreneurship, Haskayne School of Business
  • Diana Montoya, Executive Director of ASODENIC, a financial institution addressing poverty in Nicaragua
  • Dan Murray, CEO, Opportunity International Canada
  • Students from ENTI 541, a senior Haskayne School of Business course exploring microfinance in real-world settings.
