Celebrate Métis Week

November 15, 2023
12 - 1:30 p.m. MST
Online (Zoom webinar)

To commemorate the legacy of Louis Riel, Métis Week in Alberta takes place on November 12-18 and celebrates the heritage, history and contributions that Métis people have made in Alberta and Canada. In honour of Métis Week, the University of Calgary’s Office of Indigenous Engagement annually hosts an event to share Métis culture, lived experience and ways of knowing.

You are invited to attend this year’s event featuring a special presentation about Métis Crossing, Alberta’s first major Métis cultural destination, from guest speakers Juanita Marois, CEO, and Art Cunningham, Board Member. This event will be moderated by Dr. Aubrey Hanson, Associate Professor in Curriculum and Learning, Werklund School of Education, and will welcome Métis Elder Doreen Bergum to provide an opening blessing.
