Hunter Centre Innovation Speaker Series | What Does It Take to Become a Start-up Province?

Alberta finds itself challenged by global paradigm shifts that disrupt traditional sources of prosperity, and how we respond will have a significant impact. Reinventing sources of economic value can be the difference between a prosperous future or being leapfrogged by competitive regions.

In this interactive session, Dr. Reuven Brenner, a leading authority on risk-taking behaviour, will explore how society can encourage a culture of experimentation and evolution. He will also discuss why becoming a start-up province can lead to prosperity and the importance of addressing this with urgency. Dr. Brenner will explore how human attitude and motivation towards risk are crucial to our future economic prosperity. He will be exploring how societies can optimize their formal institutions (e.g., fiscal policy) or informal institutions (e.g., attitude to risk, perception of sources of future value) to attract and retain the valuable and strategic resources of all skilled entrepreneurs.
