About Glenda MacQueen

Dr. MacQueen earned her PhD in Psychology and her medical degree from McMaster University, where she also completed her residency in psychiatry. In 2008 she moved from McMaster to the University of Calgary to become Academic Head and Zone Clinical Department Head for Psychiatry. She was the first Senior Medical Director of the Alberta Health Services Addiction and Mental Health Strategic Clinical Network. She is currently Vice Dean in the Cumming School of Medicine and a member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research and Education. She is also the Medical Director of the Mood Disorders Clinic at the Foothills Medical Centre.

Dr. MacQueen is the deputy editor of the Canadian Journal of Psychiatry and an associate editor of the Journal of Psychiatry and Neuroscience. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Palix Foundation and the personnel committee of the Calgary Drop In and Rehab Centre. She also sits on the Strategic Advisory Boards of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Royal Ottawa Institute of Mental Health. She is on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Integrative Health Institute for the University of Alberta and the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute.

In 2014 she received the Heinz Lehmann Award from the Canadian College of Neuropsychopharmacology and in 2017 she received the JM Cleghorn Award for Leadership and Excellence in Clinical Research from the Canadian Psychiatric Association. She became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2018.
