Meet Our Speakers

DAVID CORY, BPE’85

David Cory is a leadership development coach, trainer and consultant known for his expertise in applying the concept of emotional intelligence to individual and organizational performance improvement. David founded one of the first companies in North America to focus on the development of leadership based on emotional intelligence. The Emotional Intelligence Training Company celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2018 and certifies more people to use the EQ-i in North America than any other company. In the course of his work, he has been an invited guest of the Sultan of Brunei, worked under armed guard in Nigeria, been kicked out of a restricted area in Saudi Arabia, been chased by an elephant in Zambia and sang for royalty in Malaysia. David’s company also completed the design of an emotional intelligence skills development course for the entire nation of Botswana, a world first; it is currently being delivered through a train-the-trainer model. Besides his UCalgary degree, David also holds BEd and MA degrees from UBC.
