Fashion: The Ugly Reality

What’s in style this season? Fashion trends have always changed with the times, but in recent years, “fast fashion” retailers have made it easier and cheaper than ever before for consumers to outfit themselves in the latest styles. However, behind the fashion industry’s glamourous runways and storefronts, there are hidden social, environmental and economic costs that have a negative impact on our world.

What would it take to design a more sustainable fashion industry? Where can we find more ethical solutions on both a local and a global scale, and how can we inspire each other to take sustainable action every time we get dressed?

On October 23, 2018, join us for a conversation between international and local experts in sustainable fashion to learn more about how sustainable fashion is growing, both in Calgary and beyond. Together, we will consider sustainable solutions to some of the fashion industry’s most pressing social, environmental and economic concerns.
