Important Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada Employment Regulations Affecting International Students International graduate students must be enrolled full-time and have a valid study permit in order to work legally in Canada. There are no legal restrictions on how many hours international students may work on-campus. There are strict regulations governing eligibility to work off-campus. For off-campus work, an international student must:
1. Be a full-time student enrolled in a UCalgary graduate degree program (exchange and visiting students are not eligible for off-campus work) 2. Have a valid study permit 3.NOT work more than 20 hours a week, all year long
Please note that graduate programs (except some MBA programs) do not have scheduled breaks built into the program. International graduate students are therefore unable to work off campus more than 20 hours a week at any time because they are continuously enrolled full-time for the 12 month registration year, regardless of whether they take a course or not.
