Indigenous Knowledge Public Lecture Series: Dr. Esther Tailfeathers

ii’ taa’poh’to’p’s 2019/20 Indigenous Knowledge Public Lecture Series welcomes thought-provoking Indigenous thinkers across all disciplines, honouring UCalgary’s commitment to truth and reconciliation.

Dr. Esther Tailfeathers is the medical lead for the Population, Public and Indigenous Health Strategic Clinical Network at Alberta Health Services. She received her medical degree from the University of North Dakota and has since served communities such as the Blackfeet Community Hospital in Montana, the Blood Reserve, the Cardston hospital and emergency room, and in the remote northernmost community of Fort Chipewyan.

Dr. Tailfeathers was born and raised on the Blood Reserve (Kainai First Nation) located in southern Alberta and has lived in many Indigenous communities including the northern Sami community in northern Norway.
