Want a long healthy life? Try not to be born poor.

Dennis Raphael speaks on the social determinants of health in Canada as part of the Faculty of Social Work's Positive Disruption Series

Dennis Raphael has some simple tips for better health: “Try not to be born poor.” Raphael is one of the leading scholars in the social determinants of health. Raphael peels back our society’s bias toward the individual’s responsibility for health (stopping smoking, eating better, exercising more) to consider how social factors poverty, lack of affordable housing etc. are actually the most important factors in the health of our society.

Join us for a special evening with Dennis Raphael, Nov. 23, 7:30 p.m. at The John Dutton Theatre, Calgary Public Library, Downtown Branch, 616 MacLeod Trail SE. Raphael will provide a one-hour presentation followed by a panel discussion with attendees.
