Mexico Days 2016: Meeting point for arts, culture and science

Buen Vivir (“Collective Well-Being”) and International Collaborations

University of Calgary International, the Latin American Research Centre and the Consulate of Mexico in Calgary are pleased to invite you to Mexico Days, a celebration of Mexican culture that will feature a keynote address, panel discussion, photo exhibit, music and reception.  

Date: Thursday, November 3

Time: 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Place: Environmental Design Gallery, Professional Faculties Building, University of Calgary

Dr. Isabel Altamirano-Jimenez will speak on the concept of Buen Vivir as a social philosophy with roots in indigenous cultures during her keynote address.

Following the lecture and panel discussion, a reception will be held and guests will have the opportunity to view a photo exhibit entitled “Outer and Inner Space: Yucatan Peninsula and Western Canada” by photographers Cristóbal González and Ana Martin del Campo, and enjoy music by local Mexican guitarist, Hugo Daniel Siqueiros.

Entrance to this event is free and refreshments will be provided. Public parking is available in lots 31 or 33

Mexico Days will feature a series of other Mexican events including a Day of the Dead “Altares” Competition, a film screening with Mexican film director Emilio Maillé, and a Tastes of Mexico evening. Learn more about these events.
