Living Healthy in Old Age: Dreams, Realities and Consequences
For almost 20 years, Canadian policy makers have been wrestling with the demographic reality that Canada is getting older – and fast. For some time, we’ve been talking about how Canada is going to provide CPP and a decent standard of living for a generation of seniors that is bigger that the generations that follow. But there is another car on this demographic freight train that could very well send Canadian benefits off track – namely, health care for this ever growing cohort of seniors. How is Canada going to fund universal health care and ensure quality of health if the sheer number of heavy health users threatens to swamp the system? It is incumbent on Canadian policy makers to start this conversation now, before it’s too late.
Join The School of Public Policy at this symposium that will tackle these issues head-on. This is a must attend for those in health care, seniors issues, public policy, finance and financial planning.
Topics include:
- The Outlook for Longer Working Lives
- Trends in Disability and Consequences for Health Care Spending
- Coping with Aging Realities
